Vehicle: 1994 Subaru Impreza 1.8 H4 GAS
- Disconnect ground cable from battery.
- Move selector lever or gear shift lever to "N".
- Release parking brake.
- Jack up vehicle and support it with sturdy racks.
- Remove rear exhaust pipe and muffler.
- Remove front exhaust cover.
- Remove differential mount front cover.
- Remove four bolts which hold propeller shaft to rear differential. Put matching marks on affected parts before removal. Remove all but one bolt.
- Remove two bolts which hold center bearing to car body.

- Put matching marks on affected parts.
- Remove bolts which hold front propeller shaft to rear propeller shaft.
- Place companion flange in a vise and remove stake nut. Be sure not to hold propeller shaft pipe portion in vise.
- Drive out companion flange with a puller or press. Before disassembling, put matching mark on affected parts.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Rear

Front
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheels.
- Remove and discard axle nut.
- Remove stabilizer and transverse link from crossmember.
- Using a drift and hammer, remove and discard DOJ spring pin, Fig. .
- Remove DOJ from transmission spindle.
- Remove driveshaft assembly. If necessary, use puller tool No. 926470000 or equivalent.
- Inspect all parts for wear, damage or corrosion and replace as necessary.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque axle nut to 137 ft. lbs.
- Torque stabilizer link to 28 ft. lbs.
- Torque transverse link to 29 ft. lbs.
