  • Disable parking brake automatic adjuster as follows:
    • Working from inside vehicle, remove driver seat cushion, then the parking brake lever cover screws and cover.
    • Using .080 inch gauge wire, fabricate a tool to disengage drive pawl from sector, Fig. .
    • Using tool mentioned above, disengage drive pawl from sector, then insert a nail through anchor plate to keep drive pawl in disengaged position.
    • Pull up on lever until it aligns with pawl, then depress button until lever is fully downward.
    • Visually inspect that anchor plate is fully against stud. If not, repeat procedure ...

System Operation

The function of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is to minimize wheel lock-up during heavy braking on most road surfaces. Intermittent failures in the anti-lock brake system may be difficult to accurately diagnose. The ABS diagnostic trouble codes which may be stored by the EBCM are not designated as current or history diagnostic trouble codes.
