If battery cable has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn a new operating strategy. Connect battery cable and run engine until operating temperature is reached. After engine warm-up, drive vehicle under various operating conditions until PCM has relearned new strategy.

  • Drain engine coolant into suitable container, then remove thermostat in numbered sequence shown, Figs. and . Place mating marks on hoses and clamps for installation reference.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • On Avenger and Sebring, ensure thermostat is installed with jiggle valve positioned as shown, Fig. .
    • On all models, connect coolant hoses by sliding each hose onto fitting as far as projection on fitting will allow.
