This procedure must be performed if the BCM, Passlock sensor or PCM is replaced. If BCM is not properly programmed, it will not control all the features properly.
- Ensure battery is fully charged and ignition switch is in the ON position.
- Connect a suitably programmed Tech II, or equivalent, scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Mark relationship of wheel to axle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake drum. If drum is difficult to remove, insert screwdriver through hole in backing plate and hold automatic adjusting lever away from adjusting bolt, then, using a second screwdriver, reduce brake shoe adjustment.

- Drain transaxle fluid.
- Remove hub nut cap, then cotter pin, hub nut and washer.
- Remove tie rod end from steering knuckle.
- Remove brake caliper from steering knuckle.
- Disconnect control arm from steering knuckle.
- Remove brake rotor.

The Check Engine lamp should light when the ignition is in the on position with engine not operating. When engine is started, the Check Engine lamp should go off. If lamp remains on, a code has been stored by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory.
