Master cylinder pushrod-to-piston clearance must be checked and adjusted before installing master cylinder.
- Using pushrod adjustment gauge tool No. 07JAG-SD40100, or equivalent, adjust bolt so top of it is flush with end of master cylinder piston, Fig. .
- Install master cylinder rod seal between pushrod bolt adjustment gauge and brake booster.
- Without disturbing position of adjusting bolts, install gauge upside down on booster and torque nuts to 11 ft. lbs.

Place vehicle on level ground with wheels blocked. Place transaxle in the Neutral position for manual transaxle models and in the Park position for automatic transaxle models during function test. Prelude
- Turn ignition switch on and ensure anti-lock warning light comes on.
- Start engine and check anti-lock warning light. If light goes off, there is no problem with anti-lock brake system. If light comes on, continue test.

Operation
The anti-lock brake system (ABS), Figs. through , modulates the pressure of the brake fluid applied to each caliper. This prevents the wheels from locking, whenever they are likely to be locked due to excessive braking. It then restores normal hydraulic pressure when there is no longer any possibility of wheel locking.
