- Disconnect battery ground cable and clutch lead wire.
- Remove discharge and suction service valves from compressor. Plug openings.
- Remove drive belt.
- Remove compressor mounting bolts, then the compressor. Note amount of oil in compressor for installation reference.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Ensure oil level in replacement compressor matches level in original compressor.

- Working through radio opening in instrument panel, disconnect flag atop heater/A/C housing, Fig. . then slip cable self adjustment clip upward from blend air door crank.
- Remove heater/A/C control as described under "Heater/A/C Control Unit, Replace," then squeeze flag to disconnect cable at control unit.
- Insert a suitable 3/16 inch diameter tool into crank hole to remove self adjustment clip from cable, Fig. .
