- Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove front wheels.
- Remove parts in order as shown in Fig. , noting the following:
- After removing lower lock bolt, rotate caliper upward and support with rope.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following.
- Push the piston inward using piston pushing tool No. 490221600C, or equivalent, then install new pads.

Brake pads should be replaced as a set if lining thickness is below .08 inch on any pad.

- Raise and support vehicle and remove rear wheel assembly.
- Remove caliper attaching bolts, then the caliper, leaving brake hose attached, and position caliper out of way.
- Remove disc plate attaching screws and the disc plate, Fig. . If disc plate is difficult to remove, remove dust cap, insert screwdriver into hole and turn adjuster to increase shoe clearance.
- Remove upper and lower return springs, then the front and rear hold pins.
- Remove brake shoes, then separate adjuster and operating lever assembly from shoes.
