DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 1996 BMW M3 AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 1996 BMW M3 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace -> With rear constant velocity joint -> With slide
Vehicle: 1996 BMW M3 3.2 L6 GAS
With slide
Caution: Mark universal joint to drive flange of rear axle. This will eliminate complaints of droning.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove complete exhaust system.
- Remove heat shield.
- Unscrew holders for exhaust suspension.
- Remove clamp.
- With joint disk, unscrew joint disk on transmission.
- With universal joint, unscrew universal joint on transmission.
- Release threaded bush with a suitable tool by a few turns.
- Unscrew universal joint on final drive.
- Unscrew center bearing.
- Kink propeller shaft downwards at center mount and in so doing detach from centering on manual transmission...
