- Remove hub cover, noting the following:
- On 2WD Amigo, remove hub nut using hub nut wrench tool No. J-36827, or equivalent.
- On 4WD models, remove locking hub, then remove hub nut using hub nut wrench tool No. J-36827, or equivalent.
- On all models, slide hub/disc assembly off spindle, then remove bolts holding hub to rotor and separate. If rotor is to be reinstalled to the hub, place suitable matching marks on both pieces.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

- On models with turbocharger, remove air duct and air cleaner assembly, then remove intercooler assembly.
- On all models, remove master cylinder.
- Disconnect vacuum hose, then yoke clevis from brake pedal.
- Remove vacuum booster retaining nuts, then vacuum booster from vehicle.
Inspection
- Inspect the check valve, which is installed inside the vacuum hose. Air passage should be able to flow in one direction only.
- Air should pass freely from the vacuum booster to the engine.

These components are non-serviceable and must be replaced as a unit, do not try to disassemble components.
Hydraulic Unit

- Disconnect electrical connectors from unit.
- Remove upper battery hold-down bracket.
- Disconnect brake lines from unit, then cap ends to prevent entry of foreign material.
- Disconnect hydraulic unit ground lead, then remove front retaining bracket.

- Apply 19.7 inches of Hg negative pressure to vacuum servo.
- Measure pushrod length from tip to face, Fig. . Length should be .717 inch.
- Ensure brake pedal spring will fully return brake pedal and measure pedal height.
- Pedal height is taken from the bare floor, carpeting and mat removed, to the face of the rubber brake pedal cover.
- Pedal height must be measured after starting and revving engine several times.
- Pedal height should be 6.85-7.24 inches when fully released and 3.7 inches when a force of 110 lbs. has been applied to brake pedal.
