- Disconnect brake fluid sensor electrical connector from master cylinder reservoir.
- Position a drain pan under master cylinder.
- On models with separately mounted reservoir, disconnect reservoir hoses from the master cylinder.
- On all models, disconnect brake lines from the master cylinder. Plug all lines and fittings.
- Remove master cylinder to brake booster attaching nuts.
- Pull master cylinder outward and away from brake booster.

- If master cylinder has been replaced or overhauled and reservoir is empty, proceed as follows:
- Fill reservoir with clean brake fluid, then disconnect brake lines at master cylinder.
- Depress pedal slowly and hold pedal in depressed position.
- Place fingers over outlet port, then release brake pedal.
- Repeat above steps several times. Refill reservoir suitable brake fluid.

- Bleed brake master cylinder as follows:
- Fill master cylinder reservoir with DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid, then depress brake pedal fully and plug master cylinder outlet fitting.
- With fitting opening plugged, release brake pedal. Perform this operation several times to fill master cylinder with brake fluid and purge all air.
- Start engine and bleed air from hydraulic lines. Refer to Figs. through for hydraulic line bleed sequence. Ensure master cylinder reservoir is kept full during bleed procedure.
