To access diagnostic trouble codes and perform system service, a SAAB ABS system tester will be required. The tester, Fig. , can perform three different sets of tests. - The diagnostic socket (green) is located below the righthand front seat.
- During fault diagnosis, the ignition switch must always be in the On position.
- The ISAT system number for the TC/ABS system is number 3.
- Always read off and note down all stored diagnostic trouble codes before disconnecting the battery or ECU.
- If communication cannot be established between ISAT and the ECU, check the leads between ECU pins 23 and 42 and the diagnostic socket. Also ensure the power feed and ground circuits to the diagnostic socket are good and the connector pins are not damaged.

- Insert a .08 inch feeler gauge between parking brake lever and stop on brake caliper.
- Screw locknut against adjusting sleeve until feeler gauge drops out.
- Apply and release parking brake lever a few times to settle adjusting device.
- Ensure clearance between lever and stop is .02-.08 inch.
- Lower rear seat.

When working on any hydraulic brake components it is extremely important to keep the work area clean. Clean any parts that are to be reused with new brake fluid or a cleaning fluid specifically designed for hydraulic components. Wipe all parts dry using clean lint-free paper or cloth. Gaskets, seals, O-rings and rubber components should not be reused. Prior to assembly, all components should be generously lubricated with clean brake fluid.
