- Use an Allen key to stop piston rod from turning.
- Loosen suspension strut nut five turns.
- Loosen wheel hub retaining nut and wheel nuts.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
- Remove wheel hub retaining nut.
- On models with automatic transaxle, drain automatic transmission fluid.
- On all models, remove splash shields.
- Detach suspension.
- Disconnect stabilizer link end from suspension strut.
- Disconnect tie-rod end.
- Disconnect lower suspension arm from wheel knuckle.

- Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from mass air flow sensor and intake air temperature sensor.
- Remove engine air cleaner to body O-ring retainer.

Under normal operating conditions the cabin air filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles. In dusty areas change the cabin air filter more often.
- Position windshield wipers away from the cowl vent screen. Operate the windshield wipers until the blades are at the top of their arch, then place the ignition switch in the Off position.
- Remove the plastic screw covers from the righthand cowl panel retaining screws.

This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.
