- Remove reservoir cap, drain brake fluid into a suitable container, then remove reservoir from master cylinder, Figs. through .
- Remove snap ring while depressing piston with a blunt tool. If necessary, secure master cylinder in a suitable soft jawed vise.
- On all models except Santa Fe, Sonata, XG 300 & XG 350 models, remove primary and secondary pistons from master cylinder body. Do not disassemble primary and secondary pistons.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel/tire assembly.
- Remove lower bolt and caliper assembly, Fig. . Position assembly aside using suitable wire.
- Remove brake pads and shim.
- Bottom piston in caliper using a suitable tool.
- Install new brake pads and attach shim to the outer pad. Tighten lower bolt to specifications.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel/tire assembly.

Brake System Bleed
- Bleed normal brake circuit using standard procedure as outlined in "Hydraulic Brake Service."
- Turn ignition switch Off, then connect MUT to diagnosis connector.
- Turn ignition switch to On position, but do not start engine. Multi-use tester should now be On.
- Follow each of the steps listed in Fig. for each bleed screw in order shown:
- Place a clear plastic bleeder tube on screw to be bled.
- Apply light and constant pressure to brake pedal.

- Remove wheel/tire assembly.
- Remove brake hose from caliper and cap brake line(s).
- Remove caliper assembly as outlined under, "Brake Pad Service."
Disassemble
- Remove sleeve, sleeve boot and pin boots, Fig. .
- Protect fingers with shop towel, then blow piston from caliper bore with compressed air.
- Remove piston boot, then pry piston seal from caliper bore using a suitable screwdriver.
Assemble
- Clean all components with suitable cleaner.
