- Connect battery ground cable.
- Turn ignition switch to On position and ensure air bag MIL lamp turns off after approximately six seconds.
- Set clock, radio, seats, mirrors, steering column and other memory components.

- Remove air bag simulators.
- Install both air bag modules.
- Connect battery ground cable.

- Disconnect cable block connector, electrical connectors and the main feed cable from relay, Fig.
- Remove nuts securing relay, then relay.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Remove steering wheel as follows:
- Remove steering wheel securing nut.
- Mark position of steering wheel, then remove from column.
- Loosen steering wheel adjuster and telescope steering wheel to extreme position.
- Remove steering column lower shroud and blanking plate.
- Remove steering column upper shroud and column retaining bolt.
- Remove steering column pinch bolt, then the steering wheel assembly.
- Remove instrument panel side trim panels.
