- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove clips (1) securing retaining pins (2), Fig. .
- Remove pins and anti-rattle springs (3), then the pads (4).
- Compress pistons into caliper bores using piston compression tool No. 64932392, or equivalent, Fig. .
- Reverse procedure to install.
XJ6 & XJ12 & 1995-97 XJR
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Disconnect brake pad wear sensor connector.
- Remove lower guide pin bolt.
- Pivot caliper upward and remove brake pads.
- Compress piston and reverse procedure to install.

- Start bleeding procedure at righthand rear wheel.
- Remove bleeder screw dust cap, then attach suitable one-way bleed valve and hose to bleed screw.

Maintain brake fluid at correct level in reservoir during brake bleeding procedure.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Clean reservoir and filler cap to ensure fluid is clean and no dirt enters reservoir.
- Hold brake fluid level warning light cable and remove filler cap/float assembly. Top fluid level to base of filler neck.
