- Disconnect brake fluid level sensor.
- Disconnect and cap brake fluid lines from master cylinder using Line Wrench tool No. 49-0259-770 A/B, or equivalent.
- Remove proportioning bypass valve attaching bolts and valve, if equipped.
- Remove bracket, if equipped, then the master cylinder assembly from the power brake booster.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- On all models except B-Series, torque master cylinder nuts to 8-12 ft. lbs.
- On B-Series models, torque master cylinder nuts to 14-21 ft. lbs.
- On all models, bleed brake system.

- Raise and support vehicle and remove front wheel assemblies.
- Use a C-clamp to compress caliper piston into bore.
- Remove caliper pin bolts, Figs. through .
- Remove caliper from disc plate and position aside. Do not let caliper hang with its weight suspended by brake hose.
- Slide disc pads off caliper anchor plate.
- Inspect all components for wear or damage.
- Reverse procedure to install. Caliper must be bottomed out to install new disc pads.

- Connect New Generation Star (NGS), or equivalent, to data link connector and battery, Figs. and .
- On models except for B-Series and 626, set tool No. 49 T088 003, or equivalent to ABS.
- On all models, select " VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION" on NGS display and then select vehicle model, engine type and model year.
- Select "DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK" on NGS display.
- Select "ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE" on NGS display.
- Select "DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE" on NGS display.

Function Check
- Stop engine and depress brake pedal a few times to relieve vacuum.
- With pedal depressed, start engine. After starting engine, pedal should move down slightly. If so, unit is functioning.
- After engine has run two minutes, turn it off. Depress pedal with normal force.
- If the first pedal stroke is long and gets shorter with subsequent strokes, the unit is operating. If a problem is found, inspect check valve, vacuum hose and installation. Repair if required and inspect again.
- Start engine and depress pedal with usual force.
