These models use an engine coolant temperature sensor, vehicle speed sensor, A/C "ON" signal and A/C pressure signal to input signals to the ECM. The module uses these input signals to open and close the two coolant fan relays.
With vehicle speed below 12 mph, A/C switch off, A/C triple-pressure switch off and engine coolant temperature below 203°F, both relays will remain open and cooling fans should be off. - On all models except 1990-96 300ZX, remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse panel.
- On 1990-96 300ZX, disconnect the fuel pump relay, located behind the lefthand side kick panel.
- On all models, start and run the engine until it stalls.
- After the engine stalls, crank two or three times to ensure all fuel pressure is relieved.
- On all models except 1990-96 300ZX, turn the ignition Off, then install the fuel pump fuse.
- On 1990-96 300ZX, turn the ignition Off, then connect the fuel pump relay.

This procedure describes a driveline equipped with cardan joint in tube yoke. Driveline equipped with companion/slip yoke repeat steps to remove remaining cardan joint.
- Place driveshaft on suitable workbench. Do not damage driveshaft when servicing on workbench. Ensure driveline and components are reference marked to prevent driveline imbalance.
- Tap outside of bearing cap with a drift to loosen snap ring.
