LED 1 & 3 Do Not Light, Tester In Position 1
Refer to Fig. ,for LED identification numbers. Weaker illumination of an LED indicates a contact resistance in respective circuit.
- Inspect for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 34 and ground at battery ground cable (LED 1), Fig. .
- Inspect for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 10 and ground at battery ground cable (LED 3).
- If continuity does not exist, repair shorted or open circuit.

Disc Brakes -> Single Piston Rear Disc Brakes -> Brake Pad Service -> Except TT -> TT

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assemblies.
- If brake pads are to be used again, mark installed positions for installation reference.
- Remove caliper housing to carrier mounting bolts, then the caliper housing, Fig. .
- Remove brake pads from carrier.
- Extract part of brake fluid from reservoir using a suitable bleeder bottle, then install piston using installation tool No. 3272, or equivalent.
- Install brake pads, then the caliper housing and tighten to specifications.
- Install wheel assemblies and lower vehicle.

The following procedure has been modified by a Technical Service Bulletin.
To bleed brake system, use a catch bottle with a transparent hose attached so brake fluid can be inspected for air bubbles.

Electronic Control Unit
A4, A6, S4 & S6
The electronic control unit is located beneath the lefthand side of the rear seat.
- Turn ignition Off.
- Remove rear seat.
- Remove spring retaining electrical connector, then disconnect electrical connector.
- Remove screws securing control unit.
- Reverse procedure to install.
A8
- Remove lower slot cover from between knee bolster and lower column cover.
- Remove knee bolster.
- Remove ABS control module.
- Disconnect ABS control module electrical harness connector.

- Remove driver's side storage compartment.
- Separate brake pedal from master cylinder pushrod as follows:
- Remove stop lamp switch.
- Insert brake pedal release tool No. T10006, or equivalent, from below, Fig. .
- Hold brake pedal tightly.
- Lift catch off push rod using a slight pull on release tool " A."
- Keep tension on tool to prevent pushrod from engaging catches.
- Separate brake pedal from master cylinder pushrod " B."
- Connect bleeder hose and bleeder bottle to lefthand front brake caliper bleeder valve, then open bleeder valve.
