- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.
- Remove rubber plug from top of brake support plate.
- Insert a suitable screwdriver into hole and turn adjuster towards front of car until it stops. This will fully release rear brake adjuster.
- Remove brake drum.
- Remove brake drum to hub/bearing retaining nuts, then the rear brake drum from hub and bearing assembly.
- Remove actuator spring from automatic adjuster mechanism and trailing brake shoe, Fig. .

Two different power brake vacuum boosters are used. For standard brake and ABS applications a Bendix booster is used. For traction control ABS applications a Teves booster is used, Fig. .
Do not attempt to disassemble or service power brake unit. Brake unit is serviced only as a complete unit.

- Remove two caliper to steering knuckle guide pin bolts.
- Remove brake caliper from steering knuckle as follows:
- Rotate bottom end of caliper away from knuckle.
- Slide top of caliper down from machined abutment on steering knuckle.
- Support caliper to prevent weight from being applied to brake hose.
