CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 1998 Ford Escort Sport 2.0 L4 GAS

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove wheel and splash shield.
  • Raise staked portion of halfshaft retaining nut
  • Remove retaining nut and discard.
  • Remove cotter pin from tie rod end and separate tie rod end from steering knuckle using a suitable tie rod remover tool.
  • Remove lower ball joint clamp bolt and pry down on lower control arm to separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
  • Pull outward on steering knuckle/brake assembly.
  • Carefully pull halfshaft from steering knuckle and position knuckle aside.
  • Support transaxle with a suitable jack stand.
