Master cylinder pushrod-to-piston clearance must be checked and adjusted before installing master cylinder.
- Using pushrod adjustment gauge tool No. 07JAG-SD40100, or equivalent, adjust bolt so top of it is flush with end of master cylinder piston, Fig. .
- Install master cylinder rod seal between pushrod bolt adjustment gauge and brake booster.
- Without disturbing position of adjusting bolts, install gauge upside down on booster and torque nuts to 11 ft. lbs.

- Disconnect vacuum hose from booster, then remove vacuum hose bracket.
- Remove throttle control cable bracket, then disconnect engine wire harness connectors.
- On models equipped with manual transmission, remove clutch reservoir and reservoir bracket. Do not disconnect clutch hose from reservoir.
- On all models, loosen pushrod locknut, then remove cotter pin and joint pin.

- On models equipped with rear disc brakes, ensure parking brake arm on rear caliper is in contact with brake caliper pin.
- On all models, pull parking brake lever up one click, then remove rear center console lid.
- Tighten adjusting nut until brakes drag slightly when turning rear wheels.
- Fully release parking brake, ensure brakes do not drag when turning rear wheels.
- Fully apply parking brake, ensure wheels do not turn.
