Removal
- Remove 2/3 of total brake fluid capacity from master cylinder reservoir.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Install two wheel retaining nuts to retain rotor in position.
- Position one end of a suitable C-clamp against inlet fitting bolt and other end against outboard shoe and lining.
- Tighten clamp, Fig. , until piston fully bottoms in caliper bore.
- Remove upper guide pin bolt and discard.
- Loosen lower guide pin bolt, then pivot caliper downward on lower guide pin bolt to expose shoe and lining assemblies.

Manual
Pressure bleeding is recommended for all hydraulic systems. However, if a pressure bleeder is unavailable, use the following procedure. Brake fluid damages painted surfaces. Immediately clean any spilled fluid.
- Remove vacuum reserve by pumping brakes several times with engine off.
- Fill master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid. Do not let reservoir fall below half full during bleeding procedure.
- If necessary, bleed master cylinder as follows:
- Loosen master cylinder forward brake line connection until fluid flows from reservoir, then tighten brake line.

Brake System Bleed
Before bleeding the brakes, the front and rear displacement cylinder pistons must be returned to their top most position as outlined under "Rehome."

Scan Tool
All Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) must be repaired and cleared before attempting to rehome displacement cylinder pistons. Using suitably programmed scan tool, follow tool manufacturers instructions.

On 1997-98 models, refer to " Scan Tool."
ABS warning lamp must not be illuminated. Do not place foot on brake pedal unless specifically directed to do so.
