- Place a cover over the fender to protect paint from brake fluid.
- Disconnect brake lines and cap openings.
- Remove retaining nuts, then the master cylinder.
- Reverse procedure to install. Bleed master cylinder prior to installation.

Component Replacement
Control Module
- Ensure ignition is off.
- Remove sound proofing under instrument panel.
- Loosen band holding control module and lift module out.
- Remove control module connector.
- Reverse procedure to install.
Hydraulic Modulator
- Remove cover over hydraulic modulator.
- Remove both relays and connector.
- Disconnect ground lead from modulator
- Remove hydraulic lines to modulator noting position for installation.

All procedures must be completed to avoid damaging the control unit.
Refer to wiring diagram and component locations in Figs. and , during fault tracing procedures.
- Check fuse in transient surge protector
- Check all connectors, wires and ground connections for ABS System.
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from control unit by depressing lock spring and swinging connector out.
- Remove cover from hydraulic modulator.
- Remove cover from control unit connector.
- Remove white protective moldings from sides of connector.

- Remove retaining spring from caliper.
- Remove mounting bolts, then the caliper. Hang caliper from a steel wire as not to damage brake hose.
- Remove caliper mounting bracket.
- Remove rotor locating pins, then the rotor.
- Reverse procedure to install. Tighten locating pin and caliper mounting bracket bolts to specifications.

Bleeding Unit
- Ensure ignition switch is turned Off.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Clean filer cap on brake fluid reservoir and surrounding area.
- Remove filler cap.
- Set bleeding unit to 29-43 psi.
- Connect bleeding unit to brake fluid reservoir.
- Depress brake pedal several times to expel any air bubbles from master cylinder. Repeat this step between bleeding each brake caliper.
- Start at front lefthand wheel, remove protective cap from bleed nipple and connect hose from drain bottle.
- Open bleed nipple and close it again once no further air bubbles can be seen in fluid.
