- Remove fluid from reservoir using a syringe.
- On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, proceed as follows:
- Remove three-way joint attaching bolt and position joint aside.
- Remove two brake pipe flare nuts, then disconnect brake pipes from master cylinder. Plug lines.
- On models not equipped with anti-lock brakes, remove three flare nuts and disconnect three brake fluid lines from master cylinder assembly. Plug lines.

- Place index marks on pinion flange yoke and differential pinion flange.
- Remove bolts and nuts holding yoke, then separate pinion flange yoke from differential pinion flange.
- Remove sliding yoke from transfer case, then remove propeller shaft from vehicle.
