Removal
- Remove rear disc brake caliper assembly as outlined under "Caliper Service." Do not disconnect flexible hose unless caliper requires service. Support caliper with wire or tie strap so flexible hose is not stretched or twisted.
- Remove rear disc support bracket to wheel knuckle bolts, then the rear disc support bracket and brake shoes and linings.
- Remove two nuts, then the rotor from rear hub.
Installation
- If installing new rotor, remove protective coating from rotor with suitable carburetor cleaner.

Disassemble
Under no circumstances is the driveshaft assembly to be clamped in the jaws of a vise or similar holding fixture. Denting or localizing fracture can result, causing driveshaft failure during vehicle operation. Place the driveshaft on a suitable workbench, being careful not to damage the tube.
If components are not marked and installed correctly, driveline imbalance can occur. Index-mark the positions of the driveshaft components.

MAINTENANCE LAMP RESET PROCEDURES FOR 1999 Ford Mustang AUTOMOBILES

This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.
