Before bleeding the brakes, the front and rear displacement cylinder pistons must be returned to their top most position as outlined under "Rehome."

Removal
- Remove approximately 2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder.
- Raise and support vehicle using suitable lift.
- Mark relationship between front wheel and axle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- If caliper assembly is to be serviced, remove inlet fitting attaching bolt, copper washer, and inlet fitting from caliper housing. Plug opening in inlet fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination. Do not crimp brake hose, since this may damage internal structure of hose. If only shoe and lining assemblies are to be replaced, do not disconnect brake line fitting from caliper.

System Operation
The function of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is to minimize wheel lock-up during heavy braking on most road surfaces. The system performs this function by monitoring wheel speed and controlling the brake fluid pressure to each front wheel and both rear wheels during braking. Pressure bleeding is recommended for all hydraulic systems. However, if a pressure bleeder is unavailable, use the following procedure. Brake fluid damages painted surfaces. Immediately clean any spilled fluid.
- Remove vacuum reserve by pumping brakes several times with engine off.
- Fill master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid. Do not let reservoir fall below half full during bleeding procedure.
- If required, bleed master cylinder as follows:
