Coolant Temperature Sensor
Avenger, Sebring Coupe & Talon
- Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Connect an ohmmeter between sensor terminals.
- Measure resistance between terminals, noting the following:
- When coolant temperature is at 77°F, resistance should be 9.0-11.0 kohms.
- When coolant temperature is at 212°F, resistance should be 600-800 ohms.
- If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.

- Remove air cleaner hose and air distribution duct from engine.
- Drain engine coolant into a suitable container.
- Disconnect heater hoses at dash panel, then plug heater core inlet and outlet tubes.
- Remove both A/C lines from expansion valve using special disconnect tool No. 7193, or equivalent, to disconnect connectors on A/C lines.
