- Connect suitable battery to terminal C, ground terminal B and connect suitable 12-volt, 3-18 watt test lamp between terminals A and C, Fig. .
- On Civic models equipped with serpentine evaporator, and Odyssey and Prelude models, test lamp should go Off at 36-39°F or less, and come On at 39-41°F and more.

- Obtain the vehicle owners radio theft protection code prior to disconnecting the battery ground cable, if equipped.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the fuel fill cap to release fuel tank pressure.
- On models less fuel filter service bolt, place a shop towel over the banjo bolt at top of fuel filter. Slowly loosen the banjo bolt one complete turn. When loosening the banjo bolt, use a backup wrench to hold the fuel filter in position.

- Raise and support vehicle and support it with safety stands in proper locations.

- Drain transmission fluid and reinstall drain plug using a new washer. Its not required to drain transmission fluid if lefthand driveshaft is removed.
