- Unscrew cover of brake fluid reservoir and top off with brake fluid.
- Connect topping-off fitting from brake bleeding unit kit tool No. 88 19 096, or equivalent, to brake fluid reservoir.
- Position hose with one end on topping-off fitting and other end in bottle filled with clean brake fluid.
- Raise and support vehicle, then connect brake bleeder hose to front left wheel and open nipple. Draw off approximately .1 quart brake fluid. Repeat at front right wheel.

- Loosen brake hose at caliper.
- Press brake pedal fully to floor and secure in that position.
- Remove upper guide pin bolt, then disconnect brake hose at caliper and plug hose and fitting.
- Remove caliper.
- Reverse procedure to install and bleed brake system.

- Remove brake pads as outlined previously.
- Loosen brake hose at caliper.
- Press brake pedal fully to the floor and secure in that position.

When the brake pedal is depressed, pedal pressure assisted by power from the servo unit pushes the input rod into the master cylinder. The input rod pushes the primary plunger up the bore which closes the cutoff port to the fluid reservoir. This creates pressure ahead of the primary plunger. This pressure also acts on the secondary plunger, pushing it up the bore and closing the cutoff port from the secondary chamber.
