- Lift parking brake lever, then remove cover attaching screw and cover.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Pull parking brake lever to first click.
- Tighten adjuster nut until moderate drag is felt at both rear wheels when turned by hand.
- Pull up on parking brake lever until twelfth or thirteenth click is heard. Repeat 3 to 4 times.
- Ensure no drag exists when parking brake is in rest position.
- Pull lever to first click and ensure moderate drag exists at both rear wheels. Repeat procedure until proper adjustment is reached.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove rear wheels.
- Remove brake drum. Do not pry against brake backing plate.
- Remove lower return spring, Fig. .
- Remove adjuster spring.
- Remove leading brake shoe hold-down, spring and pin.
- Remove adjuster assembly and lever. If difficult, pull leading shoe toward front of vehicle, then or turn star wheel on adjuster to shorten length.
