If battery cable has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn a new operating strategy. Connect battery cable and run engine until operating temperature is reached. After engine warm-up, drive vehicle under various operating conditions until PCM has relearned new strategy.

- Remove engine oil dipstick and tube, then cover hole in crankcase using suitable plug.

- Remove lower radiator and heater hoses from thermostat housing.
