- Remove and discard a portion of brake fluid from master cylinder.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Use an eight inch c-clamp to move piston back into its bore as follows:
- Place head of c-clamp against caliper and screw end of c-clamp against outer pad below spring clip.
- Tighten c-clamp until torque buttons just clear caliper (approximately 1/8 inch). Remove c-clamp.
- Clean excess dirt from around pin tabs, then use caliper pin remover tool No. D89T-2196-A, or equivalent, and light hammer to drive caliper pin from caliper as follows:

To measure pushrod adjustment, use a suitable gauge and position it against the master cylinder mounting surface as illustrated in Fig. . Adjust pushrod screw by turning it until the end just touches inner edge of gauge slot.

- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester tool No. 007-00500, or equivalent, to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under instrument panel to right of steering column.
- Place ignition in RUN position.
- Follow instructions on NGS Tester screen to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If NGS reports system passed, no DTC's, go to "Quick Check". If NGS reports link communication error, module not responding, proceed as follows:
- Ensure ignition is in RUN position.
