- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove rear wheels.
- Fully release parking brake.
- Remove brake drum, if drum is hard to remove, proceed as follows:
- Remove plug from rear side of backing plate.
- Using a suitable tool, push stopper towards backing plate to gain clearance between brake shoe and drum as shown in Fig. .
- Install two bolts into outside of brake drum as shown in Fig. , then gradually tighten the two bolts until drum separates from the brake shoes.
- Push in shoe hold-down pins from behind backing plate, Fig. .

- If piston assembly is stuck in cylinder bore, gradually apply air to fluid outlet port.
- Replace stopper cap if claws are damaged. Bend claw inward when installing new stopper.
