  • Drain coolant into a suitable container.
  • Remove timing belt as outlined under "Timing Belt, Replace."
  • Remove camshaft sprockets. Discard bolts.
  • Remove timing belt idler pulley above water pump.
  • Disconnect engine wiring from No. 3 timing belt cover, then remove cover, Fig. .
  • Remove water pump attaching bolts, then the pump.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • Torque water pump mounting bolts to 69 inch lbs.
    • Torque timing belt idler pulley bolt to 32 ft. lbs.

  • Inspect condenser fan operation with temperature below 190°F as follows:
    • Connect manifold gauge set to high and low sides of system.
    • Start engine.
    • Turn blower speed to HI, temperature control dial to COOL and A/C switch On.
    • Ensure refrigerant pressure is less than 220 psi.
    • Ensure cooling fan operates at low speed.
