- Mark running direction, then remove serpentine belt.
- On A4 and S4 models, proceed as follows:
- Remove three quick release screws on front of noise insulation panel.
- Remove air intake duct between header panel and air cleaner.
- Remove all wiring harness clamps located at sides of radiator frame.
- Remove lower righthand bolts, Fig. , and install support tool No. 3369, or equivalent.
- Install support tool to VAG tool No. 3369 slot, Fig. .

Rear Brake Basic Setting
Parking brake cable must be free of tension during basic setting inspection.
- Push caliper lever against stop on both sides of vehicle using a suitable screwdriver. Parking brake cable is too tight if lever of opposite side caliper is pulled away from stop.
- If required, loosen adjustment nut for parking brake cable until both levers rest against stop.
- Push a suitable screwdriver between end of rear spring and roller.
- Press brake pedal once, then ensure both tires rotate freely.
- Remove screwdriver.
