- Clamp compressor in suitable support, then remove clutch hub as outlined under "Clutch Hub & Pulley, Replace."
- Remove shaft seal felt from nose of compressor.
- Remove snap ring as follows:
- Insert tip of snap ring remover tool No. T89P-19623-DH, or equivalent, into one eye of the snap ring, Fig. .
- Rotate snap ring until eye is close to compressor shaft, Fig. .
- Keeping tool shaft against side of nose opening, quickly pull upward and remove snap ring, Fig. .

Disconnect negative battery cable for a minimum of five minutes. After clearing memory, it is required to drive vehicle a minimum of 10 miles to allow PCM time to relearn operating strategy.
