- Remove instrument panel bezel using a suitable wide blade flat tool and pry bezel away from instrument panel, then lower down glove compartment door.
- Reach through glove compartment opening and disconnect vacuum harness.
- Remove control panel attaching screws and pull control unit far enough away to disconnect electrical connectors and control cables.
- Remove control unit.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Remove heater and A/C housing as outlined under "Heater Housing, Replace."
- Remove recirculation air door actuator as outlined under "Mode Door Actuators."
- Remove heater and A/C housing cover, then lift lower end of recirculation door up far enough so that door lever is clear of recirculation air intake grille, twist door to remove door pivots from pivot holes.
- Remove recirculation door from blower motor housing cover.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Recover refrigerant as outlined under , then remove serpentine drive belt.
- Disconnect clutch wire.
- Remove suction and discharge lines from compressor. Plug openings.
- Remove serpentine drive belt.
- Remove compressor mounting bolts, then the compressor.
- Reverse procedure to install. Torque compressor mounting bolts to 21 ft. lbs.
