Component Replacement

Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
  • Disconnect ECU electrical connectors.
  • Tag their locations, then disconnect brake line fittings at HCU using flare nut wrench tool No. 0K130 430 019, or equivalent. Plug all open lines and ports to prevent entry of dirt or debris.
  • Remove ECU to HCU mounting bolts, then lift ECU away from HCU.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • Torque ECU mounting bolts to 15-17 inch lbs.
    • Torque HECU bracket mounting pin to 72-86 inch lbs.

  • Remove front disc brakes in numbered sequence as required, Fig. .
  • Reverse procedure to install. Tighten bolts and wheel lug nuts to specifications.
Sedona
  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove tire and wheel.
  • Remove caliper mounting bolts, then position caliper aside using suitable wire or rope.
  • Remove pads from caliper.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • Use brake expander tool No. 0K130 430 017, or equivalent, when inserting new pads.
    • Bleed brake system as outlined in "Hydraulic Brake Systems."

  • Secure master cylinder assembly in a suitable vise.
  • Remove reservoir cap, Fig. , then drain brake fluid into a suitable container.
  • Remove level sensor using a suitable screwdriver.
  • Remove reservoir mounting screw, then pry reservoir out of master cylinder. Discard seals.
  • Push primary piston into cylinder bore to ease snap ring removal, then remove snap ring and piston.
  • Push secondary piston into bore, then remove secondary piston stop screw.
  • Place a suitable shop towel in bore to catch secondary piston.
  • Remove secondary piston using compressed air through port.
