Disc Brakes -> Caliper, Replace -> CL55, CL500, CL600, S55, S430, S500 & S600 -> CLK55, CLK320, CLK430, CLK500, E55, E320, E430, E500, SLK32, SLK230 & SLK320 -> Front -> Rear -> SL55, SL500 & SL600

- Disconnect and plug brake hoses, Fig. .
- Disconnect wear sensor connector.
- Remove connector, and if required, speed sensor.
- Remove mounting bolts and caliper from steering knuckle or wheel carrier.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Install new self-locking bolts and tighten to specifications.
- Only transparent (temperature resistance) wear sensors may be installed on rear axle.
- Front wear sensors' contacts must correspond to plug connectors.
- On models equipped with Lucas fixed calipers,wear sensors are installed on outer brake pad.

- Disconnect spring and removal wear sensor from connector.
- Remove covers and guide pins.
- Remove calipers with brake pads.
- Remove wear sensor from lining back plate.
- Remove some brake fluid from reservoir.
- Pull wear sensor out of lining back plate.
- Push piston back using resetting tool No. 000 589 52 43 00, or equivalent.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

- Connect suitable brake fluid changing tool following tool manufacturer's instructions. Bleed pressure is 29 psi.
- Open righthand rear brake caliper bleed screw and allow approximately 2.7 ounces of brake fluid to flow out without any bubbles.
- Tighten bleed screw to specifications.
- Repeat bleeding procedure at lefthand rear, righthand front and lefthand front calipers.
- On CL55, CL500, CL600, S55, S430, S500 and S600 models, open master cylinder bleed screw and allow brake fluid to flow without any bubbles. Tighten bleed screw to specifications.
