- Recover refrigerant as outlined under .
- Remove coolant expansion tank cap.
- Clamp off heater hoses using clamps tool No. 3094, or equivalent.
- Place a suitable drain pan below heater hose connections, then disconnect hoses from connections.
- Blow remaining coolant out of heater core using compressed air at low pressure.
- Remove heater core inlet/outlet boot.
- Remove bolt, then the refrigerant lines from evaporator, Fig. . Plug all refrigerant lines and connections to prevent dirt and moisture contamination. Position lines aside....

- Mark running direction using suitable felt pen or chalk, then remove serpentine belt.
- Remove front noise insulation panel under engine.
- Remove front bumper and grille assembly.
- Remove oil filter if it will impede access, then disconnect refrigerant lines from compressor. Discard refrigerant fitting O-rings.
- Cap all open lines and fittings.
