Refer to Fig. ,for LED identification numbers. Weaker illumination of an LED indicates a contact resistance in respective circuit.
- Inspect for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 34 and ground at battery ground cable (LED 1), Fig. .
- Inspect for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 10 and ground at battery ground cable (LED 3).
- If continuity does not exist, repair shorted or open circuit.

FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2003 Audi A4 Quattro AUTOMOBILES

Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.
Obtain the vehicle owner's radio theft protection code, then disconnect the battery ground cable. Briefly open fuel filler cap to relieve system pressure, then close it again.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> FRONT -> REAR

FRONT
- Remove wheel cover, then drive axle bolt in hub.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tires.
- Remove drive axle mounting bolts.
- Remove cable for ABS wheel speed sensor from bracket at brake caliper, then pull ABS wheel speed sensor slightly out of swing arm.
- Remove swing arm to track control arms mounting bolt and push both track control arms up and out, then tilt swing arm away.
- Remove drive axle.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque wheel lug nuts to 89 ft. lbs.
- Torque wheel hub nut to 280 ft. lbs.
- Torque drive axle flange bolts to 59 ft. lbs.
