- Raise and support vehicle, then remove front tire and wheel.
- Press and hold brake pedal with suitable prop.
- Disconnect brake pipe from connection with hose.
- Remove wear indicator connector from lefthand side.
- Remove mounting bolts and caliper.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Bleed brake system.
- Ensure brake pad wear sensor wire does not contact rotor or wheel.
Rear
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear tire and wheel assembly.
- Drain moderate amount of brake fluid from reservoir using suitable syringe.

Front
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove front tire and wheel assemblies.
- Remove retaining spring.
- Disconnect brake pad wear indicator connector from lefthand side of caliper.
- Remove plastic plugs and remove brake hose out from bracket.
- Remove guide bolts and lift brake caliper toward vehicle rear.
- Remove brake pads and suspend caliper aside with suitable wire.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Turn caliper piston back into bore using fixture tool No. 34 1 050, or equivalent.
- Inspect fluid level and bleed brake system as required.

Refer to "Hydraulic Brake Systems," for procedures.
Component Replacement
Hydraulic Unit
M3, 325 & 330
- Remove end firewall and seal.
- Disconnect vacuum lines and electrical connector.
- Remove master cylinder as outlined in "Hydraulic Brake Systems" section.
- Mark brake lines for installation alignment.
- Disconnect brake lines.
- Disconnect connector.
- Remove brake lines with rubber grommet from body and press toward engine. Do not bend brake lines.
- Remove mounting bolts and hydraulic unit.
- Reverse procedure to install. Bleed brake system as outlined in "Hydraulic Brake Systems" section.

Hydraulic Brake Systems -> Brake System Bleed

The following procedure has been revised by a Technical Service Bulletin.
Ensure traction control systems are turned Off prior to bleeding brake system.
- Connect suitable pressure bleeder to brake fluid reservoir. Maximum charging pressure is 43.5 psi.
- Attach bleeder hose and container to righthand rear wheel. Bleed until no bubbles appear.
- Repeat previous step for lefthand rear, righthand front and lefthand front wheels.
