- With engine turned off, depress brake pedal several times, then depress brake pedal hard and hold for 15 seconds. If brake pedal sinks, then brake line, wheel cylinder, brake caliper or master cylinder are faulty. Repair or replace as required.
- Start engine with brake pedal depressed. Pedal should sink slightly. If it does not, the booster or check valve is faulty. Repair or replace as required.

Master cylinder pushrod-to-piston clearance must be inspected and adjusted before installing master cylinder.
- Adjust bolt so top of it is flush with end of master cylinder piston using pushrod adjustment gauge tool No. 07JAG-SD40100, or equivalent, Fig. .
