- Drain engine coolant into suitable container.
- Remove fan using fan wrench tool Nos. LRT-12-093 and LRT-12-094, or equivalents.
- Remove viscous coupling and drive belt.
- Remove water pump pulley.
- Disconnect water pump inlet hose.
- Remove water pump and gasket.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
- Install new gasket.
- Torque water pump mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs., and pulley to 16 ft. lbs.
Freelander
- Drain cooling system.
- Remove drive belt.
- Raise and support vehicle...

- Remove steering wheel air bag mounting bolts.
- Disconnect connector and remove drivers air bag module.
- Disconnect horn connector.
- Center steering wheel and loosen center mounting nut.
- Disconnect steering wheel, then remove from and discard steering wheel center nut.
- Hold air bag clockspring in center position using suitable tape.
- Remove radio using suitable removal tool. Disconnect connectors.
- Open lower lefthand instrument access panel.
- Remove steering column upper and lower covers.
