DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2003 Subaru Impreza AUTOMOBILES

Vehicle: 2003 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 H4 GAS
Front
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise and support vehicle and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- Remove wheel nuts and front wheels.
- Unstake hub nut using suitable tool.
- Remove wheel hub locknut using suitable tool. Loosen and retighten axle nut after removing wheel from vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may damage wheel bearings.
- Disconnect transverse link from housing.
- Remove spring pin which secures transmission spindle and install a new spring pin upon installation.

DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 2003 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 H4 GAS
Wrap metal parts with a cloth or rubber material. Rubber boot may be damaged due to interference with adjacent metal parts during removal.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Place vehicle in neutral.
- Release parking brake.
- Raise and support vehicle and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- Remove rear exhaust pipe and muffler.
- Remove front exhaust cover.
- Remove differential mount front cover bolts, then remove mount.
