- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove grille windshield air inlet.
- Remove bolts securing air inlet housing.
- Remove air inlet housing assembly.
- Remove bolts securing reinforcing brace and remove brace.
- Remove fuel line cover.
- Unclip fuel lines from bracket.
- Disconnect S-terminal connector from starter motor sole...

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2004 BMW M3 AUTOMOBILES

Alternator, Replace
Vehicle: 2004 BMW M3 3.2 L6 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Pull out expansion rivets and remove air duct assembly.
- Pull out expansion rivets from fan cowl and lift out fan cowl and fan impeller together.
- Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm clockwise, using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt.
- Remove drive belt.
- Twist and carefully pull idle speed sensor connector.
- Remove bolt securing power steering pump lines. Drain fluid into clean suitable container. Replace power steering pump line O-rings upon installation.
