DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2004 KIA Spectra AUTOMOBILES

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front
Vehicle: 2004 KIA Spectra LX 2.0 L4 GAS
Front
- Raise and support vehicle and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- Remove wheel nuts and front wheels.
- Remove drain plug and drain transaxle fluid in suitable container.
- Remove driveshaft cotter pin, castle nut and washer from front hub.
- Disconnect tie rod end ball joint from steering knuckle using suitable tool.
- Remove bolts securing wheel speed sensor from steering knuckle.
- Disconnect strut upper mounting bolts.
- Tap on driveshaft front hub assembly using plastic hammer.
- Push front hub assembly outward and separate driveshaft from hub assembly.

- Remove drain plug and drain transaxle fluid into suitable container.
- Remove wheel nuts and front wheels.
- Remove driveshaft cotter pin, castle nut and washer from front hub.
- Disconnect tie rod end ball joint from steering knuckle using suitable tool.Do not damage dust cover or oil seal.
- Loosen and remove bolt from knuckle and disconnect ball joint from knuckle.
