This lamp should light when the ignition is turned On. After engine starts, the lamp should go off, unless a fault condition is detected in the powertrain system. If the lamp remains On a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the PCM. Following diagnosis and repair, the Powertrain Malfunction Indicator will automatically reset when stored diagnostic trouble codes are cleared from PCM memory. The PCM reset procedure allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear all diagnostic trouble codes.

The compass module is located at the back of the rear view mirror.
- Determine compass magnetic zone, Fig. .
- Start the engine.
- Press and release the MODE button on message center until compass direction is displayed.
- Press and hold MODE button for 5 seconds until display reads press RESET TO SET ZONE XX.
