- Remove TBI unit cover.
- Remove charge air pipe and bypass valve with valve. Discard O-ring.

- Remove bolt at A/C pipes PAD connection to expansion valve.
- Remove expansion valve retaining bolts.
- Remove expansion valve. Plug openings in A/C pipes.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Do not use old O-rings. Always install new ones lubricated with synthetic petroleum jelly part No. 30 15 286, or equivalent.
- Torque A/C pipe to expansion valve bolts to 48 inch lbs.

- Connect a suitable scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under lefthand side of instrument panel.
- Turn ignition On, then remove lefthand fan high speed relay.
- Connect a suitable jumper wire between terminal Nos. 1 and 3 of relay holder.
- Activate coolant fan low speed with scan tool.
- If coolant fan runs at low speed, replace high speed relay.
