Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2004 Volvo XC70 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Left Side -> Right Side

Left Side
- Raise and support vehicle on lift.
- Remove hub cap.
- Remove front wheel lug nuts.
- Remove bolt for wheel hub driveshaft.
- Tap end of drive shaft approximately 15-20mm into wheel hub.
- Remove anti-roll bar strut from spring strut.
- Counterhold ball joint pinion so that ball joint boot cannot turn.
- Detach brake hose from its mounting lug in spring strut.
- Detach ABS line from its mounting lug in wheel arch.

DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2004 Volvo XC70 AUTOMOBILES

DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 2004 Volvo XC70 2.5 L5 GAS
- Raise and support vehicle on lift.
- Remove front member from body, exhaust pipe and Three-Way Catalytic Converter.
- Remove brake pipe from mountings in member. If the same driveshaft is to be reinstalled. Mark the driveshaft CV joint in relation to the bevel gear flange.
- Support front section of exhaust pipe so as not to put strain on exhaust manifold.
- Remove rear exhaust system assembly.
- Remove bolts from joint using suitable tool to hold driveline while removing bolts.
- Leave one bolt in place by a few threads for safety.
